With a population of 3989 at the census of 2000 Jackson is Amador County’s county seat. California State Route 49 and California State Route 88 are the two ways of accessing the town. In California the Jackson city is the hub of industry and in Amador County. The Amador County is located at foothills of the Sierra Nevada foothills. Most of the government offices, shopping centers, and many businesses are placed in Jackson and its neighboring town Martell. Some places of interest are Jackson Main Street for antique shops, Jackson Rancheria for casino and hotel and Underground caves for tours. Outdoor activities such as camping, picnicking can be done here.
