The only integrated city of the county of Del Norte located in the state of California in the US, is crescent city. The city is as well the county seat. The city was named after the sandy beach which is crescent shaped to be found toward the south of the city. The city was built in the year 1854 and in the year 1857 when the Del Norte County was formed, it was declared its county seat.

The city covers a total area of 2.1 square miles and according to the census data of the year 2003, the city had a population of 7,319 people exclusive of the 3,300 prisoners imprisoned in the Pelican Bay State Prison. The city is famous for its inclination towards tsunami! The city is very well interlinked by transports of various means.
