Sutter Real Estate Relocation and Information

Sutter County got its name from General John Sutter, born 15th of February 1803 of Swiss parents.  He went to America to try his luck and search for his fortune.  In 1839, he made his way to the Sacramento River and a year after, in order to obtain a land grant, he became a Mexican citizen.  In 1841, he was granted about 50,000 acres and named it New Helvetia or New Switzerland, which is now known as Sacramento City. He was named the founding pioneer of California in 1849.

One of the original counties of the state of California, it was created in the year 1850.  The cities and towns of this county are Live Oak, South Yuba City, Sutter, Tierra Buena, Meridian, Nicolaus, East Nicolaus, Rio Oso, Robbins, Trowbridge, and Yuba, which is the county seat.  Its adjacent counties are Sacramento and Yolo in the south, Colusa in the west, Butte in the north, Yuba in the east, and Placer in the southeast.  The population is at an approximate number of 93,500. Various agricultural technologies were introduced after the gold rush.  The farmlands were developed and made good use of the abundant water in Sutter.  A strain of wheat, Thompson Seedless Grapes, and cling peaches were developed.

Outdoor lovers will enjoy the numerous activities offered like hiking, biking, fishing, camping, rafting, golfing, water skiing, boating.  The mountains, rivers, lakes, fairs, festivals, entertainment, museums, historic sites, and good food make Sutter County an interesting place to visit.  The smallest mountain range in the world, the Sutter Buttes is located in this county.  A 200-year old Valley Oak Tree known as the Bicentennial Living Witness Tree is found here, too.  Another place to visit is the only Chinese temple of its kind in the United States, the Bok Kai Temple, built in 1854, where Chinese gods were housed and worshipped.
