Mortgage defaults continue their upward trend across the country. The Midwest has been hard hit this year, with Michigan and Ohio together recording 45,000 mortgages entering foreclosure for the first quarter of 2006. Michigan had an increase of 91% in defaults when compared to the fourth quarter of 2005. Ohio saw a 39% increase. Both states have been hard hit by automotive industry job losses. On average, the U.S. is experiencing a 38% increase in mortgage defaults. This marks a larger increase than in any quarter of last year, said RealtyTrac statements.

The State of Ohio, which is located in the North Eastern most part of the Midwestern United States, received its name from the Iroquois Indian word oheo which means "beautiful." Ohio State was admitted into the Union as the 17th U.S. State on March 1st of 1803.
The capital of the State of Ohio is the City of Columbus. The State's nickname is the Buckeye State and their flag is features three red and two white lateral stripes with a blue triangular field at one end that is covered with 17 stars grouped around a red disk that superimposed on a white circular "O." The official seal of the State of Ohio has in the foreground area a sheaf of wheat as well as a sheaf of 17 arrows with a sun rises over a mountain range in the background which is to indicate that Ohio was the 1st U.S. State west of the Alleghenies. Surrounding this scene are the words "The Great Seal of the State of Ohio."
The State Motto is With God All Things Are Possible. Their State bird is the Cardinal and a White-tailed deer is the State's animal along with the black racer snake as the State reptile. While the State's flower may be the Scarlet carnation, the Ohio State tree is the Buckeye.

The important manufacturing centers in Ohio are located in or around the major cities. The City of Akron is known for its rubber. The City of Canton is known for roller bearings while the City of Cincinnati is known for jet engines as well as machine tools. The City of Cleveland is known for auto parts, auto assembly and steel manufacturing while the City of Dayton is known for its manufacturing of office refrigeration, machines, heating and auto equipment. The Cities of Youngstown and Steubenville are known for their steel while the City of Toledo is known for its glass, auto parts and of course Owens Corning.
